About the artist / Irina Vavilova
A Russian artist exploring realistic painting, landscapes, and still life through the light, atmosphere, and everyday beauty of the natural world.

From early impressions to painting
Irina Vavilova first encountered art as a child at art school, studying painting, sculpture, and decorative arts. These early experiences laid the foundation for her creative practice.
Since 2015, she has worked actively in oils and watercolour. Her study of layered Old Master techniques and the Flemish tradition, alongside training with Russian artists, continues to shape her approach.
Her practice centres on landscapes, maritime subjects, and still life. Careful realistic observation is paired with a sensitivity to light, colour, and the emotional presence of a composition.
Oil
Oil, with an emphasis on layered colour, subtle shifts in light, texture, and transparency. Her practice draws on the study of Old Master painting and the Flemish tradition.
Nature, travel, the sea
Nature, travel, the sea, and familiar objects provide her subjects, revealing new meaning through attentive observation and the changing quality of light.
Artistic philosophy
To look closely is to discover beauty in the familiar. Irina seeks to convey the atmosphere of the visible world: light on water, the stillness of a landscape, and the warmth of everyday objects.
2024
